Introduction
Superconducting technologies – in particular superconducting power systems and electric motors – are likely to be key to the electrification of larger and / or longer-range aircraft. The application of these and associated technologies such as hydrogen fuel are at a very early stage, but the potential is clear.
Research and development into all the relevant technologies is underway. As they progress towards deployment over the next couple of decades, the conference committee are keen to see knowledge about the different projects shared, to help identify the scientific, engineering, commercial, and operational challenges both aircraft and infrastructure need to overcome.
At the same time, we wish to highlight the significant commercial and engineering opportunities throughout the supply chain, from component manufacturing through to OEM, support and operations. Finally, we hope to help foster and develop collaborations and investments to deliver, in time, the aim of electrified air transport at any scale.
